In a dynamic display of expertise and collaborative knowledge-sharing, BDO Dutch Caribbean recently hosted the "InsightXchange" conference on November 16, 2023. This event marked one in a series of conferences and seminars organized by BDO Dutch Caribbean, aimed at delving into critical matters and sparking meaningful conversations with thought leaders. The objective is clear: to contribute to the progress of our communities by fostering insightful discussions.

Nestled on the welcoming shores of St. Maarten, the conference served as a convergence point for professionals across diverse industries. Addressing the pressing concern of cybersecurity, Mr. Xandre Laheij, Head of  Advisory Services - BDO Dutch Caribbean, took center stage with a presentation that explored the latest cybersecurity threats, best practices, and innovative solutions. From dissecting common cybersecurity issues to navigating emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, participants left the conference armed with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Tax, an indispensable aspect of business operations, commanded significant attention at the conference. Mrs. Cristina Halaby – de Freitas Bras, Head of Tax Department – BDO Dutch Caribbean, delved into global trends, comparisons of different taxes within the Dutch Kingdom, and scrutinized proposed changes within the tax regulations of Sint Maarten. Attendees gained valuable insights into the intricate world of tax, essential for staying abreast of ever-changing regulations and complex compliance requirements.

The third pillar of discussion, change management, took center stage with Mr. Erik Steketee, Prosci certified advanced instructor, representing the People Side of Change.. Erik reinforced the importance of effectively managing change within the workplace, emphasizing the Prosci methodology. This approach places a strong focus on understanding the human side of change, equipping leaders with tools to support their teams through the transformative process. The presentation underscored the significance of leadership in promoting organizational change and delved into execution tactics.
