ROLE SUMMARY 

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for leading PJIAE’s financial operations, reporting, and planning processes, while supporting the Finance Director in strengthening financial governance and strategic decision-making.

The role combines hands-on financial management with senior-level advisory, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and actionable financial insights to support operational continuity and long-term sustainability.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Financial Operations and Reporting

  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial statements and management reports.
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analyses prepared by the finance team.
  • Coordinate the preparation of audit files and act as primary liaison with external auditors.

 

Planning, Budgeting and Performance Management

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and multi-year financial planning, aligning operational requirements with financial capacity.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide clear recommendations to management.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support investment decisions, capital projects, and funding strategies.

 

 Governance, Controls and Compliance

  • Strengthen internal controls, segregation of duties, and financial procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (i.e. IFRS).
  • Ensure audit readiness and timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Identify, monitor, and escalate financial risks to the CFO and executive management.

 

Treasury, Working Capital and Financial Discipline

  • Oversee cash flow management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely collection and payment cycles.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams on revenue streams, concessions, and lease arrangements.

 

Systems, Processes and Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee financial systems and reporting tools, ensuring data integrity and reliability.
  • Drive process improvements and digitalization initiatives to enhance efficiency and control.

 

Leadership and Organizational Alignment

  • Lead and develop the finance team, including performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate across departments (operations, HR, commercial) to ensure alignment between financial decisions and operational realities.
  • Support engagement with regulators, auditors, and key stakeholders.

 

Strategic and Board Support

  • Support the Finance Director in preparing Board-level financial reports and presentations.
  • Provide financial analysis and scenario modeling to support strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to strengthening the financial governance framework of PJIAE.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, RA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience, including at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in a capital-intensive, regulated, or infrastructure-driven organization is preferred.
  • Strong command of IFRS, financial policies, and control frameworks, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of financial governance, internal controls, and audit discipline within regulated and government‑owned organizations.

 

SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proven experience with month-end close, budgeting, and financial analysis. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. 
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel capabilities. 
  • Ability to balance operational execution with strategic financial insight. 
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 

• Remuneration is competitive and will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

• The position may require occasional travel to attend trainings, meetings and conferences.
