ROLE SUMMARY
The Commercial Director is responsible for shaping and executing PJIAE’s commercial strategy to ensure sustainable revenue growth, long‑term financial resilience, and enhanced stakeholder value. By delivering robust commercial insights, market intelligence, and forward‑looking performance analyses, the role enables the Managing Board to make well‑informed, value‑driven decisions that support the airport’s strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Commercial Leadership
- Set and lead PJIAE’s enterprise‑wide commercial agenda, fully aligned with long‑term strategy, shareholder expectations, and concession obligations.
- Translate corporate vision into a clear, integrated commercial roadmap balancing growth, resilience, passenger value, and public accountability.
- Act as a core member of the executive leadership team, shaping enterprise strategy and organizational transformation.
- Communicate complex commercial matters with clarity to enable effective oversight and strategic decision‑making.
Strategic Value Creation and Revenue Stewardship
- Drive sustainable, diversified aeronautical and non‑aeronautical revenue streams to ensure long‑term financial growth.
- Strategically position PJIAE’s commercial portfolio to strengthen competitiveness, brand equity, and economic impact for Sint Maarten.
- Measure success through financial performance, strategic value creation, customer experience, and institutional sustainability.
Governance, Risk and Accountability
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with governance codes, delegation of authority, concession agreements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Embed strong governance, ethical leadership, and risk discipline across the commercial function.
- Proactively identify, manage, and escalate strategic, contractual, and market risks to the Management Board.
Strategic Partnerships and External Alignment
- Lead and govern strategic partnerships with airlines, concessionaires, investors, tourism bodies, and key stakeholders.
- Represent PJIAE in senior‑level negotiations and external forums, safeguarding long‑term value and reputation.
- Align commercial outcomes with national economic, tourism, and infrastructure priorities.
Organizational Leadership and Capability Building
- Build and lead a high‑performing commercial organization with strong leadership depth and succession.
- Foster a culture of accountability, performance excellence, innovation, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Align talent development and organizational design with PJIAE’s future strategic ambitions.
Innovation, Change and Continuous Improvement
- Champion innovation, digitalization, and data‑driven decision‑making to keep PJIAE future‑ready.
- Lead strategic change initiatives that enhance commercial effectiveness and passenger value.
- Continuously strengthen commercial processes, systems, and governance to improve efficiency, resilience, and impact.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related field, combined with substantial senior‑level leadership experience in complex, regulated environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial strategy, revenue optimization, investment evaluation, and value‑based decision‑making within capital‑intensive or infrastructure‑driven organizations.
- Strong command of performance management systems, commercial analytics, management information systems, and executive reporting tools.
- Proven strategic and analytical capability to translate data, market insights, and financial implications into actionable commercial policies and enterprise‑level decisions.
- Effective people leader with the ability to inspire, develop, and lead multidisciplinary commercial teams.
- Advanced negotiation, influence, and stakeholder‑management skills across public and private‑sector environments.
- Excellent verbal communication in English and Spanish.
- High level of accountability for governance compliance, risk management, audit readiness, and the integrity of commercial decision‑making.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Remuneration is competitive and will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
• The position may require occasional travel to attend meetings, conferences, and
site visits.
